CONCERT: DARLINGSIDE

It’s a homecoming for local favorites Darlingside!

Formed in the early 2000s when the band members were students at Williams College, Darlingside has long been praised for their harmonies and intelligent songwriting. Described by NPR as “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop,” Darlingside is a live-performance favorite. Join us to welcome them back to the Berkshires for the July release of their latest album, Everything is Alive!

In the event of inclement weather, the concert moves into the auditorium in the Manton Research Center. Seats available on a first-come, first-seated basis.

DROP-IN WATERCOLOR PAINTING

THURSDAY, JULY 20, 1–4 PM

Feeling creative? The Clark hosts weekly watercolor painting opportunities on Thursdays, starting at 1 pm.

Get inspired by Edvard Munch: Trembling Earth, our new exhibition Humane Ecology: Eight Positions, or our permanent collection galleries. Then, head out across our campus for some plein air painting! Watercolor kits provided, including paint, paper, a miniature palette, and optional painting prompts.

Pick up a kit on the Fernández Terrace. In the event of inclement weather, the pick-up location will be the Family Room on the lower level of the Clark Center.

FRIDAYS@3: PLUNDER AND LIGHTNING

In partnership with the Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Clark hosts readings of new plays and works-in-progress. Spend the afternoon with a play in development, performed by professional actors.

This week is Plunder and Lightning by Cindy Lou Johnson, a dark comedy about greed and the urgent power of love. It examines the price to be paid for burying our sins...in the field out back.

COFFEE WITH A CURATOR: EXPLORING EDVARD MUNCH—TREMBLING EARTH

Join Associate Curator Alexis Goodin and the 92nd Street Y (New York) for a live, virtual talk about the Clark's current exhibition, Edvard Munch: Trembling Earth.

Goodin shares an intimate view of the exhibition, discussing how Trembling Earth is one of the first in North America to consider the importance of nature and landscape in Munch's paintings, prints, and drawings. She explores many of the works on view and their importance to the theme of the exhibition.

FORAGING WALK

TUESDAY, JULY 25, 5:30 PM

Naturalist and wild edibles enthusiast Arianna Alexsandra Collins from the Hoosic River Watershed Association and Offerings for Community Building leads a foraging walk across the Clark's 140-acre campus.

In this one-hour talk, Collins identifies wild edibles and medicinals found on the grounds and discusses flora and fungi characteristics for proper identification as well as meal and medicinal preparation. Trailside nibbling throughout the walkabout is encouraged!
