CIVIC MUSIC MKE WILL IGNITE THE LOCAL SCENE WITH "LIVE AT THE IVY HOUSE" – A DAZZLING CELEBRATION OF YOUNG TALENT

 

MILWAUKEE, WI – May 15, 2024 – Experience the rhythm of Milwaukee's thriving classical music scene as CIVIC MUSIC MKE proudly announces the return of "Live at The Ivy House" on Wednesday, May 29. Set against the storied backdrop of The Ivy House, this free event will feature an impressive lineup of the city's finest young classical musicians from 6 - 9 p.m.

“'Live at The Ivy House' is more than an event—it's a cultural reimagining to make the joy and sophistication of classical music accessible to all," said Nancy Herro, executive director of CIVIC MUSIC MKE.

“We're tearing down the traditional barriers that surround classical music. Attendees will not only experience the joy of live music, but they’ll also contribute to sustaining vital programs that nurture and develop local talent. All of which embodies our mission to make cultural experiences accessible to everyone," she continued.

Featured Performers:

·        Ethan Chen, violin: Ethan, a junior at New Berlin Eisenhower, brings a refined mastery to his violin performances. He's been a scholarship winner in recent High School Competitions and has delighted audiences at Showcase Recitals in both 2023 and 2024.

·        Junho Chung, piano: Junho, a Brookfield Central junior, has impressed judges at various state and national levels. His nuanced play has earned recognition in multiple competitions, including the prestigious Sejong Music Competition.

·        Collin Runnoe, cello: Collin's cello skills have earned him accolades as a top scholar and finalist in Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Stars of Tomorrow. He’s set to perform at Carnegie Hall and will tour with the National Youth Orchestra this summer. Collin is a junior at Whitefish Bay High School.

·        Zak Chen, violin: Zak, a freshman at UW-Madison, pursues dual majors in chemistry and violin performance. He was a scholarship winner in the 2023 High School Competition Showcase Recital.

·        Lucas LaBeau, piano: Lucas, a senior at Greendale High School, will attend Berklee College of Music to study jazz piano. He has earned scholarships from several organizations, including Jazz Unlimited and Young Arts, and recently featured in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

·        Steph Lippert: Steph is a local musical force, contributing her versatile talents to various bands including The Brew City Big Band, L’Resorts, Lady Cannon, Ruth B8r Ginsburg and her own project, The Steph Lippert Project. Her skills on piano, trombone, and vocals shine through in her performances. She also serves as a board member of CIVIC MUSIC MKE.
