Pacific View Art Center Color Palette Survey
COAR Design Group facilitated a small focus group of arts community members that included a landscape architect, a member of the Commission for the Arts and a member of Encinitas Friends of the Arts to review and recommend color palettes for the Pacific View Art Center buildings’ exterior.
Three color palette options have been developed by the focus group and rendered by COAR. To view details of the color palette options, click here.
A public survey to collect public input on the color palette options is available March 4-31. Only one survey response per person will be counted. Results will be shared with the Commission for the Arts at its April 3 meeting.

Brand New Tech-Y Tutors Program to Help Other Adults
Attention older adults: Do you need help learning how to get the most out of your phone, tablet or laptop? Are you feeling outsmarted by your smart device? Take your device(s) and charge on over (after charging your device) to the Encinitas Tech-y Tutors event, brought to you by the Encinitas Senior Citizen and Youth Commissions.
Receive free and friendly assistance with your smart phone, tablet or laptop from our local teens, with tasks such as attaching photos to text messages, managing your contact list, adding events to your calendar, handling spam emails and more. No RSVP required, just drop in and see us in the Maple Room (118) at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center. San Diego Community Power Hosts Community Power Plan Virtual Presentation
The City’s Community Choice Energy provider, San Diego Community Power, is hosting a virtual presentation on the draft Community Power Plan that will outline the agency’s efforts to understand community needs and priorities, the resulting program types recommended and how community members can provide input. The Encinitas community is invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback. To make it accessible, the plan is available in three languages – English, Spanish and Tagalog. To view the plan and provide comments, visit SDCommunityPower.org/CPP. Feedback will be accepted via the interactive tool for 30 days, closing on March 31 at midnight.

First On The Scene Class
The International Association of Fire Chiefs, administered by the NAEMT, is offering a free First On The Scene Class for all ages 14 and up. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice multiple lifesaving skills including:
- Activating the 9-1-1 system
- Hands-only CPR and AED
- Administering naloxone
- Administering epinephrine
- Responding to life-threatening bleeding
- Penetrating chest trauma
- Moving patients to safety
- Positioning injured patients

City of Encinitas Earns Sustainable Leadership Award
The City of Encinitas was recently recognized with the Sustainable Leadership Award from the San Diego Green Building Council for its dedication towards creating a sustainable future. Over the years, the City has completed a variety of sustainability efforts. Most recently, the City enacted Ordinances Nos. 2022-13 and 2022-14 which promote building electrification and decarbonization through energy efficiency, enhanced renewable energy requirements and mandates to install electric vehicle chargers at certain development projects.

Climate Action Plan Annual Report
The City of Encinitas recently published its 2021 Climate Action Plan (CAP) Annual Report. This report summarizes the progress the City has made toward meeting its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets set in the CAP and evaluates CAP measure implementation. Of the 20 measures established in the CAP, 13 have been completed in the last four years. To track on going accomplishments be sure to check out the City’s Climate Dashboard.

Complimentary WaterSmart Landscape Workshop
Hosted by San Dieguito Water District, Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Santa Fe Irrigation District and the City of Encinitas, this complimentary workshop will educate and provide resources to homeowners on simple, step-by-step approaches for creating attractive, WaterSmart landscapes. A state-certified landscape architect will walk participants through the process of analysis, plant selection, irrigation design, installation and maintenance. Limited to the first 50 registrants.

NCWA 4th Grade Water Awareness Poster Contest
San Dieguito Water District and other participating water agencies host an annual contest that provides an opportunity for fourth graders to learn about the value of water and exercise their creativity. Winning entries from each agency will be featured in the 2024 NCWA calendar, recognized by the SDWD Board of Directors, featured in SDWD newsletter and receive prizes.

WaterSmart Landscape Contest
San Dieguito Water District participates in this annual competition which rewards water-efficient landscapes created by customers of participating water agencies. Please share this information with anyone who should be recognized for their work in water conservation and neighborhood beautification. Winners will be recognized by our Board of Directors, featured in our newsletter and receive prizes. Entries due by May 13.
