As we approach the 44th Annual Volunteer Spirit Awards, I find myself reflecting on the deep impact that volunteerism has on our community. This year's awards are especially meaningful to me, as we honor individuals and groups whose dedication to our community mirrors the spirit and values that Volunteer New York! holds dear. Among those we celebrate is Dr. Valerie Mason Cunningham, our 2024 Legacy Award honoree. 

Valerie's journey with Volunteer New York! has been truly inspirational. Her steadiness, authenticity, and unwavering optimism have guided our organization and profoundly influenced my own leadership journey. Valerie has been a coach and a mentor to me and many others. Perhaps Valerie’s greatest superpowers are her ability to see the possibilities and her belief in the power of people to effect positive change.  

With great admiration, respect, and excitement, I look forward to lifting up Valerie's belief in the power of possibilities and the transformative impact of volunteerism at this year's awards. Get ready to be inspired!
