CAF is recognized as a fun, friendly, and family-oriented show, where you often see families strolling from room to room listening to music, auditioning gear, and browsing the multiple bins of vinyl records, CDs and accessories in the Atrium Marketplace. In the evenings we have live music in the bar and special live performers.

CAF is an experience that, once you try it you will feel as though you're part of the family.

A Discussion Of Symmetrical Power In Your System

Joe Salvatto has been in the recording Studio business since 1980, during which he has served as chief engineer for some of the greatest recording studios of all time. He started in the maintenance department for Media Sound and progressed to A and R recording, and chief engineer for Right track Recording, JSM Music, Electric Lady and Giant Recording. Over the past several decades Salvatto Sound has been a source for studio installations for clients like Phil Ramone, Billy Joel, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, and others.

In the early 2000’s Joe became aware of a new technology, developed by Martin Glasband, owner of Equi=Tech, a manufacturer of symmetrical power products. In his desire to learn everything he could about “balanced power”, Joe contacted Martin, which resulted in a long- lasting professional relationship, and many discussions about the benefits of balanced power. In 2019 Joe became technical consultant for Equi=Tech Balanced Power Solutions and an integral part of their team.

Consisting of George Hazelrigg on piano, Geoff Hazelrigg on bass and John O'Reilly Jr. on drums, Hazelrigg Brothers is an instrumental trio that melds jazz, rock, and classical music to create an experience that is engaging, entertaining and eminently listenable.

Not only are they recording artists on Outer Marker Records and Blue Coast Music labels but they are also well regarded in the production, design and manufacturing of tube studio equipment with a deep understanding of the goals and challenges of artists and studios, hence the formation of Hazelrigg Industries.

While the Hazelrigg Brothers often work in beautifully outfitted studios (or truck racks of gear into less well-equipped venues), they found that many of their colleagues were facing very different obstacles. With changes in production methods, more and more tracks were being cut in bedrooms and hotel rooms, on headphones or unfamiliar monitor systems, with the resulting audio showing the marks of these inconsistencies.

Hazelrigg Industries addresses these challenges by hand crafting recording  equipment which not only delivers superlative sonics but also allows engineers and producers to work quickly, efficiently, and - most importantly - musically to achieve their goals at the highest levels.

A History Of Jazz Guitar In Washington Dc

Since 1977, Tom Cole has been the host and producer of a weekly three-hour program of music and interviews titled ‘G-Strings’ a guitar-centric broadcast on public radio station WPFW-FM in Washington.

A native of Washington, DC, Cole has studied classical guitar at The American University and privately. He also studied comparative literature at Catholic University in Washington, DC, and at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

Michael Fremer - Washington Theatre

Michael fremer's new recording project “rufus reid presents caelan cardello”

“Rufus Reid Presents Caelan Cardello” is an exciting new jazz album performed by acclaimed jazz bassist and composer Rufus Reid and NY Jazz House Kid alum Caelan Cardello, makes its American debut at The Capital Audio Fest November 10-12.

Duke Markos recorded the live performance at the Klavierhaus performance space in New York, in January of this year. Markos mixed, with input from Executive Producer, TrackingAngle.com editor Michael Fremer and Associate Producer Robyatt Audio’s Robin Wyatt plus crucial input from “Tone Poet” Joe Harley.

Robert Ludwig mastered at Gateway Mastering Studios, Matthew Lutthans cut lacquers on Doug Sax’s The Mastering Labs vacuum tube-based system restored and installed at Chad Kassem’s Blue Heaven Studios, and the 180g records were pressed at Quality Record Pressings and packaged in Stoughton "Tip On” jackets.

The story behind how this record was produced and released is not nearly as wonderful as the music, but it is a story worth telling and hearing and Fremer will do so at Capital Audio Fest. Autographed and non-autographed copies will be available at the show.

Washington, D.C.'s jazz and experimental music scenes wouldn't be quite where they are today without Anthony Pirog. The guitarist, composer and loops magician is a quiet but ubiquitous force on stages around his hometown. With fearsome chops and a keen ear for odd beauty, Pirog has helped expand the possibilities of jazz, rock and experimentalism in a town long known for its straight-ahead tradition.

Anthony's roots as a guitarist are in the work of D.C. guitar heroes Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan, and their virtuosic technique that blended all styles of popular music.

He has taken and built upon those roots, working in straight and experimental jazz, improvisation and electronics/looping, and he somehow takes these styles, all of which he has mastered and makes them all work together and also makes them all his own.

The Edison Cylinder - Where It All Started. From Brown Wax to Blue Amberol, a short history of the cylinder's rise and fall, with live demonstrations and original cylinders. You name the artist and he has likely heard of them! Matthew Barton has worked at the Library of Congress since 2003, first as a sound engineer and archivist in the American Folklife Center and the Motion Picture, Broadcast and Recorded Sound Division, and since 2008, as the Curator of Recorded Sound at the Library’s Packard Campus for Audiovisual Conservation in Culpeper, VA. From 1996 to 2003, he was the production coordinator of the Alan Lomax Collection compact disc series issued by Rounder Records. From 2016 to 2018, he served as president of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC). He has written extensively on sound recording and music for the Boston Globe, Street Beat magazine, the Folklife Center News, the Library of Congress Gazette, and the ARSC Journal.
