An Evening At the Beach: An Improv Comedy Show showcases a group of CSULB students as they perform short-form improv sketches. At the helm is the director Diego Parada, member of LA’s resident improv theater, The Groundlings. Each performance will also feature comedy locals, from campus alumni to seasoned LA improv veterans.

Crafted by the quick-witted minds of CSULB students, this electrifying show is directed by Diego Parada, member of LA’s resident improv theater, The Groundlings. Parada will lead our fearless improv troupe as they generate a rollercoaster ride of hilarity where no scene is scripted, and every punchline is a surprise.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR 

Diego Parada is a Mexican actor (a tall one, mind you) and playwright.  

He has appeared on ABC’s?Modern Family?and his voice can be heard on ADULT SWIMS’ TV show Mike Tyson Mysteries,?as well as in?a few mini-series on NETFLIX. In 2020 he was awarded the EMERGING CONTENT CREATOR Scholarship by NALIP. Diego has also appeared in several National Commercial Campaigns. In one of them, he met Jean Claude Van Damme (Not to anyone’s surprise, Diego is taller). 

Parada left his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico to get a B.A. in Theater and Film at CSULB. After graduating, he continued his training at THE GROUNDLINGS Theater. There he became a SUNDAY COMPANY cast member and now teaches there. 

Parada is a producer, writer, and director for web series and sketches. One of his most recent projects was featured in the?Hollywood Shorts Fest and the Mammoth Film Festival.

The Studio Theater and University Theater is attached to the north side of the Theatre Arts Building, Accessible via 7th Street and East Campus Drive. Access a campus map here!
