Chloë Bass | #sky #nofilter: Hindsight for a Future America is an outdoor sculpture and performance art project by conceptual artist Chloë Bass, debuting at CAAM on June 21, the summer solstice. The sculpture takes the form of a participatory analemmatic sundial in which visitors cast shadows that determine the time. Celebrate the solstice—the longest day of the year—at a lecture/performance by Bass, followed by an outdoor sound bath provided by Sol & Sound. Grass seating; feel free to bring a mat or floor cushion.

In Conversation: Debbie Allen and Harry J. Elam Jr.

Join us at The Gathering Spot Los Angeles for this program with legendary actress, dancer, choreographer, and director Debbie Allen and Occidental College President and noted theater scholar Harry J. Elam Jr. Their in-depth conversation will be framed around Allen’s latest directorial project, Fetch Clay, Make Man, playing at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City June 18–July 16. Written by acclaimed playwright Will Power and produced in association with LeBron James’s and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company, Fetch Clay, Make Man explores the unlikely friendship between boxing great Muhammad Ali and controversial Hollywood star Stepin Fetchit against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

This program is presented in partnership with Center Theatre Group and held at The Gathering Spot, 5211 W. Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, 90016. Seating is first-come, first-served. Refreshments from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
