Exhibitions
PEREMOHA
VICTORY / UKR
Now Extended to April 29th
Bronx River Art Center is pleased to present the exhibition PEREMOHA, Victory / UKR featuring five Ukrainian women artists responding to their experiences of the war.
Curated by artist, Irina Danilova, the exhibition features the works of Olia Fedorova (Kharkiv), Daria Koltsova (Kharkiv), Maria Kulikovska (Kerch, Crimea), Natalia Lisova (Vinnytsia), and Maria Proshkowska (Kyiv).
Participating artists belong to a generation that was raised in independent Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Russian occupation of Crimea and its military invasion of the Donbass occurred when they just entered adulthood. These tragic events shaped their perspectives on the human condition and motivated them to take a stand for Ukraine’s autonomy. These five women artists have become known in Ukraine for their courageous outspokenness and are now becoming renowned throughout Europe for their strength in the face of oppression and atrocities.
GALLERY HOURS:
Tuesday - Friday: 2:30 - 6 PM
Saturday: 12 - 5 PM
Gallery hours are only in effect during the exhibition dates.

Artist Talk & Presentation
Featuring Artists in the Exhibition PEREMOHA
Saturday, April 29th, 6:00 pm
Bronx River Art Center continues with the monthly Artist Talk & Presentation series IN CONVERSATION. For the month of March, the program welcomes curator Irina Danilova who will introduce the works of Ukranian artists featured in BRAC's current exhibition, PEREMOHA. Danilova will engage in conversation with Gail Nathan, BRAC’s Executive Director. The program will be moderated by Hector Canonge.
IN CONVERSATION is a monthly Artist Talk program created last October by BRAC's Education Manager, Hector Canonge. The program was envisioned to foster dialogue, exchange and reflection about Contemporary Art issues by featuring local, national, and international guest artists working in various disciplines and creative practices. The monthly program consists of the presentation of selected works followed by an open forum with attending audience members.
Opportunities
For Artists / Curators / Educators
As part of our commitment to further nurture, support, and encourage the development of artists from the Bronx and New York City at large, BRAC will compile a list of opportunities in the arts and related fields. Artists and organizations are welcome to send us and share their listings and future opportunities.
Park West Fine Art Museum & Gallery
Open to all visual artists
As part of their first annual “Painted in New York” artist competition, Park West Gallery is searching for the best artists in New York. The Top 10 semi-finalists will have their work displayed at Park West SoHo for public viewing and voting. The winner will be offered a year-long contract and, upon mutual agreement, the opportunity to showcase their original art at the Park West SoHo location for a special three-month exhibition. The deadline to submit an application is April 16, 2023.
Chimaera Gallery
Open to all visual artists
For their upcoming June virtual exhibition, "AI: The Next Evolution" -- with an in-person event to follow in Baltimore later this summer -- Chimaera Gallery is seeking art submissions from artists working with artificial intelligence to address concepts and themes relating to the relationship of humans to our natural (and quickly evolving) world, as artificial intelligence starts to transform all facets of society. The deadline to submit an application is May 15, 2023.
MvVO ART
Open to all visual artists who previously or currently work in advertising
AD ART SHOW gives artists working in advertising an opportunity to prove themselves outside commercial art, similar to the likes of Andy Warhol and Rene Magritte. The 2023 showcase, to be held October 15th-16th, will exhibit paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography, and mixed media works at Powerhouse Arts, a leading contemporary Art Fabrication Facility housed in the spectacular former Brooklyn Rapid Transit power plant. The top artist will receive a Clio Award, and the top ten artists will have their works shown on gigantic billboard canvasses nationwide, including Time Square for the Top 3, via OUTFRONT Media. The deadline to submit an application is June 15, 2023.
