March 22nd, 6:00 PM
On the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Bronx River Art Center is pleased to present the exhibition PEREMOHA, Victory / UKR featuring five Ukrainian women artists responding to their experiences of the war.
The opening reception will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, 6PM - 9PM, with a Live Performance by artist Daria Koltsova who now lives in exile in England.
Curated by artist, Irina Danilova, the exhibition features the works of Olia Fedorova (Kharkiv), Daria Koltsova (Kharkiv), Maria Kulikovska (Kerch, Crimea), Natalia Lisova (Vinnytsia), and Maria Proshkowska (Kyiv).
Participating artist belong to a generation that was raised in independent Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Russian occupation of Crimea and its military invasion of the Donbass occurred when they just entered adulthood. These tragic events shaped their perspectives on the human condition and motivated them to take a stand for Ukraine’s autonomy. These five women artists have become known in Ukraine for their courageous outspokenness and are now becoming renowned throughout Europe for their strength in the face of oppression and atrocities.

Digital, Mixed Media, Painting
A portal can be a large entrance, a grand and imposing doorway, or a futuristic passageway to another world. Besides being an opening to new places, portals can also serve as openings to new experiences and sensations. Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) is seeking artists’ interpretations of portals – whether literal or metaphorical. Share your artistic perspectives and representations of the concept of portals as you see it. Entry is open to all artists residing internationally. All original 2D or 3D artwork in any media is eligible for our second annual online show. Isla de Crear is a creative centre, combining a range of different disciplines in order to explore creating and crafting in a new method, away from commercial constraints or industry guidelines, based on the principles of the Fantasism manifesto. We are open to people of all ages and backgrounds, and only ask that you have a keen interest in pro-actively seeking the strange and unique connections, through interdisciplinary and international collaboration. The centre is located in Úbeda, in the Jaén region of Andalusia, southern Spain, where the sun is out 300 days of the year, in the middle of the Sea of Olives, with no neighbours for miles, but we are by a main road (so it can get noisy sometimes), just outside Úbeda, a UNESCO world heritage site and home to a buzzing community of artisan craftspeople and a lot of cultural events. Deadline March 31, 2023.
