Bridgewater, NJ - On Thursday, June 29th, at the Bridgewater Township Council Meeting, a resolution was adopted, awarding a contract to CME Associates for an in-depth reexamination and update of the 2010 Open Space and Recreation Master Plan. With a focus on incorporating updated data, the consultant will conduct a population and demographic study based on a 5-year outlook. This crucial assessment will ensure that future recommendations align with the needs and realities of Bridgewater's residents.

"I would like to thank the Township Council for approving this award," said Mayor Matthew Moench of Bridgewater Township. "This reflects our dedication to meeting the recreational needs of our residents and preserving our cherished open spaces. It is incumbent upon us, as elected officials, to empower our community to envision its own future. This effort, along with the work we have begun on the reexamination of the Township’s full Master Plan, will lay the groundwork to do just that."

The key objectives of this comprehensive review include identifying potential new Open Space acquisitions, evaluating existing open space and recreation properties, and recommending both new acquisitions and equipment improvements with detailed financial analysis. The consultant will also help to identify potential funding opportunities.

The Township will also employ an outreach plan to gather valuable input from Bridgewater residents. Public involvement is vital in shaping the Open Space and Recreation Master Plan.

“Our Open Space and Recreation Plan hasn’t been updated since 2010,” Council Vice President Tim Ring explained. “We want to make sure that we leave no stone unturned in our process to develop a comprehensive plan, that’s why we’re making sure to include both demographic and financial analysis. I am confident that with the help of our residents, the Township will produce an Open Space and Recreation Plan that reflects a sustainable and productive path forward.”

Updates on the progress of the Open Space and Recreation Master Plan review will be shared with the public as milestones are achieved.
