Curated by Louisa Gloger
Inverness-based artist Inez Storer creates collage and mixed media pieces, often incorporating text into her artistic practice. Her creations are multilayered and reflect her life. From beautiful flowers to historic letters to ships to swimming pools, Storer takes her audience on a narrative journey filled with interpretative reflections and memories. This exhibition coincides with Storer’s 90th birthday and celebrates her lifelong creative practice.
Storer’s artwork has been widely exhibited throughout the United States and Europe and is in the permanent collection of the de Young Museum, among others. She has received numerous grants and awards, including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Buck Fund Grant, and has twice been an Artist in Residence at the American Academy in Rome. She taught at the San Francisco Art Institute for decades, nurturing many up-and-coming artists from the Bay Area and beyond.

Stuart Chapman: Freebox Neckties
Curated by Louisa Gloger
Stuart Chapman moved to Bolinas in 1976 and branded himself StuArt. For many years, he managed the Freebox in Bolinas, a free resource for clothes. Every Wednesday, StuArt and volunteers would reorganize it. No longer in fashion, neckties were being discarded, but StuArt recognized them as once-valuable cultural talismans. Featured in this exhibition are neckties that he decorated with words and symbols, giving each tie a new meaning. A U.S. Army veteran, StuArt holds a BFA from Cooper Union and an MFA from the Instituto Allende in Mexico. While working as a set designer at KQED-TV in San Francisco, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Set Design (“Ask Dr. Science” with Duck’s Breath Mystery Theater). StuArt exhibits his art locally, is on the Bolinas Community Center board, and has been a long-time editor and contributor to the Bolinas Hearsay News.
