From: Creative 360On Monday October 2nd, Blast from the Past, Midland’s oldest continuous big band, brings their swingin’ beat to Creative 360’s new venue at 5501 Jefferson Avenue. The band will feature a Tony Bennett tribute as the theme for this opening concert and dance.
Creative 360 became the new home for the band in 2022. Blast from the Past performs seven times a year, playing a variety of favorites from the 40s and 50s along with swing interpretations of some modern hits. Creative 360 provides the raised floor for dancing and snacks to keep the party going. The concerts/dances are the first Monday of the month and are free for all attendees.
“Creative 360 is proud to continue as the home of Blast from the Past,” said executive director Laura Vosejpka. “We love having a place where people can come to dance or just listen to this great music that is both old school romantic and big and brassy.”
The band features incredibly talented musicians: Tim Lemke and Shelby Mott on alto sax, Larry Carbary and Brenda Selley on tenor sax, Jessica Nichols on baritone sax, David Selley, Jason Folkenroth, Tom Peterson and Tom Rice on trumpet, George Bork, Jim Lile, Sue Gessford and Rich Harner on trombone, Alex Henriquez on guitar, Frank Karl on bass, George Widiger on piano and Tom Haynes on drums. Lisa Miller offers vocals and the concert on October 2nd will feature guest singer, Ron Rathkos of Mount Pleasant.
Doors are open at 5 pm and the music begins at 6 pm. Please direct any questions to the arts center at 989-837-1885.
