While We’re on the Subject of Exciting Exhibitions…
Our spotlight exhibition, “Art is About Us”, featuring the work of Delaware based painter Mary Putman is on view for just two more weeks through March 26th. For Putman, art is—and has always been—about us. Mary’s focus on the landscape over the course of her prolific career has allowed her to probe this simple yet powerful statement with paintings that explore the vast and complicated interconnections between the land and its occupants. Be sure to pick up a copy of the book by the same name, available in the gift shop and online.
To learn more about Mary Putman, join a special lecture on March 25th. In this Women's History Month talk, Dr. Kristen Nassif, Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow at the Walters Art Museum and co-author of the Putman Book, will explore Mary’s captivating landscape paintings and reflect on her career as a working artist, as well take a closer look at some Mary’s most iconic works.
