March is National Reading Month!
"The evidence has become so overwhelming that social scientists now consider read-aloud time one of the most important indicators of a child's prospects in life." --Meghan Cox Gurdhon, The Enchanted Hour: The Miraculous Power of Reading in the Age of Distraction

Starting at birth, reading with children puts them on a path to success. What happens during the first few years sets the stage for the rest of a child’s life. Spending time together while reading aloud helps to create strong parent-child bonds and promotes healthy brain development. Children that are read to more often have improved language and listening skills, experience stronger emotional connections to their loved ones, and gain a lifelong love of reading!

(All ages) This April the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Children’s/Teen Department is hosting a poetry and art exhibit on the theme of water! Poetry written by young patrons will be assigned to a youth artist anonymously. On the evening of the opening, we will reveal both the artwork and the poem that inspired it! We will also hold a poetry reading the night of the opening for poets that want to share their work with family and friends. You can participate in both the poetry and art categories or in just one.
