Final Weeks! A Movement in Every Direction Closes January 29
The Great Migration is a history of movement, connection, goodbyes, and return. Millions of Black Americans dispersed from southern states throughout the 20th century, leaving memories along the path while redefining the American landscape.
A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration illuminates the stories of this unprecedented phenomenon through the work of 12 artists. We invite you to see their work and reflect on your own family ancestry and migration stories before the exhibition closes on Sunday, January 29.
Get tickets, schedule a free docent-led tour, and mark your calendar for free admission this Sunday, January 8.

Watch a free virtual screening of Titus Kaphar's award-winning documentary short Shut Up and Paint following a pre-recorded conversation with Asma Naeem, BMA Interim Co-Director and Eddie C. and C. Sylvia Brown Chief Curator.
Shut Up and Paint follows the artist as he looks to film as a medium in the face of an insatiable art market seeking to silence his activism. Hear the artist discuss what led to making the documentary, the relationship between his paintings and film, and how the documentary unpacks the challenges that Black artists face in today’s art world and market.
