The Polar Express is on its way to the North Pole! Come check it out in the Children's Room, and check out a copy of the book or movie while you're at it.

Hello Ashland families!

December has arrived, and with it the winter holidays! We have wonderful programs planned during vacation, so stop on by. Read below for up to date information on programs, and discover some new books.

The library will be closed on Monday, December 25 for Christmas Day, and Monday, January 1 for New Year's Day.

The Friends of the Library will be hosting their book sale this month on Saturday, December 2 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Drop by to find some great books.

December Events!

One Time Programs

Robotics Demonstration

Saturday, December 2 from
10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

For grades 2 and up

Come watch Team Goofy Gyros present a demonstration of Robotics. They will host a scrimmage for nearby teams, with viewing available for anybody interested.

Put fun in STEM. Join us to learn about LEGO Robots. These budding engineers will share their knowledge of LEGO Robotics and FLL with the community.

Super Hero Day

Saturday, December 16 from
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

For all ages

A day themed entirely around Superheroes! Come in costume! Drop in anytime for fun activities - Pose for photos, play a Scavenger Hunt, play giant floor Tic-Tac-Toe, or do a Superhero themed craft.

Scheduled activities:
Meet Wonder Woman from
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Wonder Woman will read some stories, and then run a Superhero training session!

Visit with our Read-To-A-Dog friends Knives and Machete from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Family Movie: The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Tuesday, December 26 from 
2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

For families - animated, rated PG

Escape Room

Ashland Moms -- Little Crafters
Monday, December 18 at

For ages 0-5
 
The Ashland Moms offer a story & craft program for little ones once a month. Caregivers are asked to participate with their children.

Project ABC Play Group
Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.
For ages 0-5
 
Come explore and learn to play with your little one to stimulate their growth and development. This structured program helps prepare children for socialization and a school experience.

PJ Storytime
Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m.
For ages 3 and up
 
Come in your pajamas, and bring your favorite stuffed animals! We will read stories about a different one of Ryan's stuffed animals every week.

Lapsit
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
For ages 0-4

Join Miss Lois for a half hour of songs, stories and fingerplays. You can sing along with Miss Lois at home by watching her pre-recorded videos here!

Story and Craft
Fridays at 4:15
For ages 4-8

Each week we will read stories and do a related craft project. Wednesdays and Fridays will repeat the same craft.

STEM Thursdays

Thursdays  4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

For ages 5-9

Alternates between:

Lego Club
Build a creation using only what's inside a box full of Legos. Your finished creation will be displayed in the Children’s Room for a few weeks. Lego Club is held every other week.
10-Min Creation Station
As the timer counts down kids have 10 minutes to create something using only the materials in their box. Lots of fun STEM toys to build with. Everyone will have a chance to build with several different boxes.
Engineering Exploration
Each session kids will build a different engineering-based project.  Sometimes we build as a group and sometimes everyone will build their own project.
On December 21, build a house with straws and crosses big enough for us to fit inside.

Read to a Dog

Saturday, December 2, 16, and 30 at 1:30 p.m.

For kids who are reading

Children will have the chance to read to one of our corgi friends - Knives or Machete. Both are registered therapy dogs.
