Open House October 7th, 1 – 4 PM

The month of October brings the theme of “Imagine” to Artworks @ 7^th Gallery, located in North Beach, Md.  

Imagination is the beginning of creativity and the jumping off point for creators and artists. This month, local artist Barb Sampson brings the show “Imagine” to the Artworks@7^thGallery. Barb uses art to convey a place of retreat as a viewer and painter. Through multiple mediums, her landscapes, wildlife, and water scenes are the result of how she uses her imagination to recreate what she sees in the natural world.

Barb Sampson began her art journey at 12 years old with a Christmas gift of an oil paint set. She was inspired by both of her grandfathers to experiment and to learn about different art mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and photography. When she retired, she joined an art class and continues to learn new concepts and different techniques.  Barb is a member of the Calvert Artist Guild and a member of the Artworks @ 7^th Gallery.  The constant in Barb’s art journey is her desire to use her imagination to create and share what she sees with others. When a painting is complete Barb says,  “I love to stare into a painting and allow my imagination to take me to that place."   

Our special guest Artist this month is Brandy Powers Blackstone, a mixed media artist who specializes in realistic abstract works of art inspired by nature and the world around her. Having owned and operated her own web and graphics design firm for over 20 years, Brandy found that creating works of art with her hands was more exciting than she could have imagined. She loves to explore expressing herself creatively through a variety of mediums including watercolor, acrylics and oil, and hopes others experience the same joy she feels when she is surrounded by nature while viewing her work.

Brandy is a member of the Calvert Artists' Guild and the Color & Light Society, and her work can be found at the St. Mary's County Arts Council Gallery & Gift Shop in Leonardtown, Maryland and the CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Check her out on brandyblackstoneart dotcom.
