From: Arts and Culture El DoradoThe Family Resource Center and After School Enrichment classes for Placerville Union School District, is seeking twelve (12) 88-key electric pianos - new or used - for music lessons for low-income, homeless, and foster students.
The Family Resource Center works with homeless, low-income and foster students to make sure there are no barriers to their education. Because of this, in running the after school enrichment classes for elementary schools in their District (Sierra and Schnell), the registration fees are waived so that there are also no barriers to students experiencing enrichment classes in art, music, dance and more. Some of these children may not have the opportunity to participate if a fee is charged.
With their district at a 57.3% low income rate (Schnell at a 71%), it is likely that these students will not be able to purchase an electric piano for the class - but if the program has pianos available for ready use, it will open the door for the students to begin their appreciation of music.
The pianos are needed by April of 2023, before summer break, so that preparation for fall classes can start.
If you have an electric piano you can donate, please contact Kim Kahn, Placerville Unified School District Family Resource/After School Enrichment Director
