From: Chicago SinfoniettaChicago Sinfonietta would like to express our deepest appreciation for Kathryn Bostic’s invaluable contribution as our inaugural Artist-In-Residence for the past three years.
We knew she was awesome, and that's why we invited her to join us: She's an Emmy-nominated composer and singer/songwriter who was also the Vice President of the Alliance for Women Film Composers from 2016-2018 and a member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. Plus, in 2016 she became the first female African American score composer in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. We are so lucky to have been the recipient of her gifts.
Her creativity, musicianship, and unwavering dedication to our organization has left an indelible mark on our audiences and performers alike. Her music has been a source of inspiration and joy, and her commitment to diversity and inclusivity has helped us to expand our reach and impact in the community.
Kathryn's vision for our organization has also led to some of our most memorable performances, such as the world premiere of "The Great Migration: A Symphony in Celebration of August Wilson," which celebrated the legacy of one of America's greatest playwrights and "Letters From Moral Courage" which was premiered to great acclaim at our MLK concert this last January.
She is also a powerful advocate for the arts and for the importance of music education, and her workshops and masterclasses with our Freeman Fellows have pushed countless young artists to pursue their dreams.
