The Owens Family Legacy: Preserving Annapolis' Maritime Heritage
The Owens Yacht Company holds a significant place in Annapolis' historic boatbuilding and industry.
Mitchell Owens and his wife, Molly, who are descendants of the Owens family, have generously contributed to the Annapolis Maritime Museum (AMM) to support its Collections and Library program. This program aims to transcribe and digitize the oral histories of the Owens family, which were previously recorded by Michael Miron. Additionally, the contribution will facilitate the creation of a finding aid to ensure easy access to these recordings for the general public.
For those interested in learning more about the AMM's Collections and Library program, they can contact Hayley Worland at [email protected]. If anyone wishes to contribute to the program, they can get in touch with Kelly Swartout in the development office at 410-295-0104 ext. 18.
By preserving and sharing the Owens family oral histories, the AMM aims to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Annapolis' rich maritime heritage
