February News: How to be a part of lung health history

Be a Part of History: Join the Lung Health Cohort Study
 
Little is currently known about the evolution of lung disease and how a young, healthy adult's lung function changes over time. Made possible by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Lung Association Lung Health Cohort is the first?ever longitudinal lung health study following 4,000 healthy individuals between the ages of 25 and 35 aiming to unlock the mysteries of lung disease. To learn more, visit: Lung.org/lung-study.
 
Tell the White House to Act on Menthol Cigarettes
 
Our annual “State of Tobacco Control” report revealed the ongoing devastation of tobacco use across the country, but right now the White House has a historic opportunity to do something about it.

We’re asking everyone who cares about lung health to tell the White House to finalize the rules to end the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars.

You can also see your state’s grade on tobacco use and prevention efforts.

During Black History Month, we pay tribute to the history, heritage and contributions of Black people in the United States. We also encourage everyone to learn about the inequities in lung health as a result of racism and targeted marketing from the tobacco industry.
