From: Alliance Francaise de Denver

Bonjour,
This week, we are happy to present one of our new teachers at AFD, Fahima Ghendouz!

Fahima Ghendouz, of Algerian origin, completed her higher education at the University of Tizi Ouzou in Algeria where she obtained her Master's degree in Information Systems. She held a position of responsibility in her home country before becoming a teacher at the University of Bouira for seven years. All the teaching was done in French. She likes to read, to cook, and is passionate about traveling as well as hiking in the mountains. She is a mother of two daughters named Dyhia and Anya ages 7 and 2. She is thrilled to be a part of the Alliance Française of Denver as a teacher because she loves to be in contact with her students whom she loves to see learn and progress in the French language. Please welcome Fahima!

My Trip to France

My trip To France is a young company created at the beginning of 2023 by Marie and Manu, a French couple who have been living in Denver for 2 years. Travelers, educators, entrepreneurs, they launched this company with the aim of having children aged 7 to 12 travel to France and the United States. At My trip To France, the philosophy is to provide an immersive cultural experience for children to learn and appreciate the history, language and way of life in France. They also seek to foster independence, self-confidence and a sense of adventure in children through activities such as hiking, camping, cooking and exploring local sites.During each school break,  My trip To France   organizes itinerant stays in France of 8 to 10 days with 6 to 8 children maximum for 2 supervising adults. The destinations vary according to the period, Châteaux de la Loire, Côte d'Azur, South West of France, the Alps, and of course Paris are part of the destinations offered.
My trip To France  also offers a " My Trip in French" version departing from Denver and bound for Yellowstone for the month of August 2023. 6 to 8 children will discover the oldest of the American national parks for a week. Camping, hiking and animal observation will be on the program for this stay, all in French and supervised by 2 adults native to France.

Cinema News

Denver Sie Film Center is showing François Ozon's newest film, Tout S'est Bien Passé.

From François Ozon (8 Women, Swimming Pool) comes a powerful family drama in which a daughter is forced to reconcile with her father and their shared past after he contacts her with a devastating final wish. When André (André Dussollier) suffers a debilitating stroke and calls on his daughter Emmanuèle (Sophie Marceau) to help him die with dignity, she finds herself faced with a painful decision. Based on Emmanuèle Bernheim’s memoir and an Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival, Everything Went Fine’s matter-of-factness elicits moments of humor that renders an otherwise weighty topic accessible. Steering clear of the moral arguments such issues often raise, the film instead focuses on the reckoning Emmanuéle has with her stubborn and unrelenting father and how to help him, with Ozon tackling a difficult subject with exceptional intelligence and sensitivity. Featuring stunning central performances by Marceau and Dussollier as well as a scene-stealing cameo by Charlotte Rampling as André’s ex-wife.
