October 4, 2024

From: Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy

WHEREAS, craftsmanship and ingenuity are embedded in the legacy of the Last Frontier and have helped shape our Great State into what it is today; and

WHEREAS, Alaska’s staggering size, natural beauty, vast resources, and strategic location are the envy of the Nation, and our land, water, skies, and weather present unique challenges and opportunities for manufacturers; and

WHEREAS, Alaska’s local fish processors, timber companies, bakeries, furriers, and others play an important role in our State’s economy. Our manufacturing industry produces exceptional products, offering Alaskans locally-sourced options; and

WHEREAS, increased demand for Alaska Made products can spur production expansion, adding to Alaska’s economy and security and circulating money within our State, and it is important to teach our youth the importance of self-sufficiency and adaptability, and to emphasize the essential role manufacturing plays in sustaining a strong economy; and

WHEREAS, our State’s manufacturers provide safe, healthy, high-quality products, offering Alaskans local options and financial security for our State, which would otherwise be dependent on imported products; and

WHEREAS, Alaskan manufacturers are modern-day pioneers who supply the locally-created products necessary to ensure a sustainable future for current and future generations. Alaska is abundant with resources, and with education and dedication, generations of Alaskans will reap the benefit of their harvest.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike Dunleavy, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA, do hereby proclaim October 4, 2024 as:

Alaska Manufacturing Day

in Alaska and encourage Alaskans to support local manufacturing by purchasing products produced and grown in Alaska.
