On view at the Longmont Museum June 10, 2023–January 7, 2024
Experience the intersection of art and agriculture in agriCULTURE: Art Inspired by the Land, showcasing new work created by 18 local and national artists in collaboration with Boulder County farmers. Presented by BMoCA and the Longmont Museum, this multi-venue exhibition includes works on view at the two museums and three local farms: the Agricultural Heritage Center in Longmont, Milk and Honey Farm at the Boulder JCC, and Ollin Farms in Longmont. The museums invite the community to celebrate the exhibition at the opening reception events at BMoCA on June 8 and the Longmont Museum on June 9.
BMoCA and the Longmont Museum commissioned artists to partner with farmers to create new works that shed light on the diverse practices of farmers along Colorado’s Front Range. Working together, the artists and farmers have developed projects that present innovative ways to address topical issues, from land rights to food access, cultural heritage, climate change and many others.
Collectively, the works on view in agriCULTURE: Art Inspired by the Land celebrate the region’s rich farming heritage while also sparking dialogue about challenges facing our local community and the world-at-large. The exhibition unfolds a unique experience by drawing parallels between art and agriculture and inspiring visitors to think about their own connections with nature in new ways. The exhibition was lead-curated by Jaime Kopke in partnership with curators Jane Burke from BMoCA and Jared Thompson from the Longmont Museum.
