Adams County Arts Council Requests Architectural Proposals for Building Repairs and Improvements

The Adams County Arts Council (ACAC) invites qualified architects to submit proposals for re-design and repair of the roof, façade, and interior of the Arts Education Center (AEC) located at 125 S. Washington St., Gettysburg. The final project will address the building’s exterior front façade, roof, and gutter system, which have been in disrepair, resulting in flooding on the interior of the building last fall.

The scope of work includes developing an itemized design plan, tiered by priority, that addresses the needs of the organization and conforms to relevant standards and regulations, while enhancing aesthetics and ensuring sustainability of the structure. ACAC has raised a portion of the funds necessary to begin the project and will execute a campaign to raise any remaining funds once the full scope and price to complete necessary work is clarified.

Architects who wish to submit a proposal should have experience working in historic districts, a valid license to work in Pennsylvania, and adequate insurance coverage for a large renovation project. Presentations should include a portfolio of past relevant work.

Interested parties are asked to contact the Adams County Arts Council to arrange a walk-through of the space. Following the initial walk-through, ACAC will host an open information session on Tuesday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. at the AEC to address any questions prior to submitting a proposal. Proposals will be due Friday, April 21, 2023, and will be reviewed by ACAC’s Building Committee, which consists of five ACAC Board members and ACAC Executive Director Lisa Cadigan.

“We look forward to addressing the issues that have become apparent with the building in recent months and using the much-needed repairs as an opportunity to beautify and improve our Center,” says Cadigan. “Continuing to provide an aesthetically pleasing, welcoming, and safe space is essential in our mission to cultivate an arts-rich community.”

Questions regarding the RFP and/or to schedule a walk through should be directed to Lori McCullough, Development Assistant, at 717-334-5006 or [email protected].
