Wanda Snader Dehan, Collective RogueArts, and GHS Visual and Media Arts Student Artwork Exhibitions at the Adams County Arts Council

The Adams County Arts Council will feature the opening exhibitions of pastel artist, Wanda Snader Dehan, Collective Rogue Arts Exhibition and GHS Visual and Media Arts Student Artwork on Friday, January 5, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the ACAC’s Arts Education Center, 125 S. Washington Street, Gettysburg.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Wanda Snader Dehan lives and enjoys painting in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This is her first solo show. She primarily works with soft pastels but also uses mixed media and gouache. Wanda began drawing in mid-life during her first summer break in law school as an antidote to reading countless legal cases. After law school graduation, she began taking art classes with exploration of various media. She gravitated towards using pastels as she loved the luscious and vibrant colors of the pastel sticks and the ease of painting with them.

Collective Rogue Arts, “unentitled” is a collection of 2D and 3D collaborative artwork by: Reagan Bitler, Ophelia Chambliss, Jeannine Dabb, Kristin Kest, Nicole Osborne, Andrew Smith, Debbie Toluba, Together, the artists broadened their skill set and learned from each other’s philosophical and technical abilities. Andy Smith says, “We found that collaboration promotes growth, understanding, and empathy. Living in the US while black, LGBTQIA+, poor, female, non-Christian, differently abled, or any other marginalized or demonized group can be challenging. All of us experience life through a unique lens, sometimes having layers of experience that grant us privilege at times, and at other times, cancels it out.”

Creative Unfolding, a group show featuring GHS art students together with GAHS Visual and Media Art Teacher, Julie Myers, showcases student artists who found success in the Visual and Media Arts program.  The artwork featured shows how these high school students are advancing their skills and learning how to create an art show that conveys appreciation through presentation of their artwork.  Featured students are Antonio Almanza-Alvarado, Dalianny A. Alvarez-Orihuela, Madison S. Bensinger, Charlotte M. Brandauer, Alexis Coshun, Maja Engl, Abigail R. Hornemann, Jayden M.  Jenkins, Lanie G. Jonas, Christopher A. Miller, Emma J. Nichols, Winter S. Oaster, Salem E. Palmer, Marcos Antonio J. Perez, Samantha J. Rios, Argelvira Yanez-Solis, Shaylyn A. Spenla.
