From: Athens MLK Day Parade and FestivalJoin us in downtown Athens for the 7th Annual Athens MLK Jr. Day Parade & Music Festival!
The Athens MLK Jr. Day Parade and Music Festival honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and promote culture, inclusion, and diversity in Downtown Athens. This event includes live performances, vendors, a kids fun zone, and much more.
Festivities begin at 1-6pm on the corner of Hull and Washington Street. Local schools, organizations, nonprofits, churches, dance teams, mobile vehicles, and various organizations are welcome to participate in the parade.
Parade Participants
1:00 pm-2:30 pm parade participants CHECK-IN and line up on Washington Street (between Hull Street and Lumpkin Street). All parade participants must check in by 2:30 pm. Parade participants can only check in starting at 1 pm (strictly enforced).
3 pm Parade begins (parade appx 45 minutes).
Parade route/details:
The parade starts and ends on the corner of Hull and Washington Street. (At the end of the parade, mobile floats and vehicles will be directed to park on Washington Street. Parade walkers will be directed to the main stage for the final performance.
4 pm Parade ends, Honoree Ceremony (Honoring our elders), and outdoor music performances begin with various live bands.
4:30-6 pm Outside Stage Live Performances
6 pm Closure outdoor festivities end.
6-8 pm Indoor Hip Hop Hour LTBA
