20th Annual Juried Art Exhibition Artists To Be Honored With Awards and Toast The Artists Reception

Gettysburg, PA - The Adams County Arts Council celebrates a major milestone this June: it is the 20th Anniversary of the prestigious Juried Art Exhibition (JAE) held in Gettysburg College’s showcase art venue, Schmucker Art Gallery, where the Exhibition has been held since 2008. The first JAE in 2004 was held in the basement of St. James Lutheran Church on York St. and called the Fine Arts Show. In 2007, the event moved to the Gettysburg Train Station, and the name changed to the Juried Art Exhibition.

The public is invited to attend a Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 8, 5:00 –7:00 p.m. in the Schmucker Art Gallery, 300 N. Washington St. on the college campus. Awards will be announced at 6:00 p.m. The Reception is free and refreshments will be provided. The exhibition runs from Saturday, June 1 through Friday, June 21; gallery hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm., Monday – Saturday, closed Sundays. The exhibition closes at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 21.

This year’s juror is Jessica Ambler, PhD, Director of the Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.  Dr. Ambler earned her Ph.D. in art history from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her experience in the art world includes work in a museum, auction house, universities, and arts organizations.

Congratulations to the forty-five artists selected by the juror to be in this year’s exhibition. They are: Kelly Alsedek, Liliana Arias, Alexander Bellotti, Donna-Marie Burr, Pamela Crockett, Jeannine Dabb, Sandra Desrosiers, Sherree Devor, Michael Dugger, Lina Ferrara, Andrea Finch, Lenore Fiore-Mills, Jean Frey, Chris Gold, Julie Gross, Jack Handshaw, Michael Hower, Sarah Jacobs, Robyn Jacobs, Christopher Lauer, Christine Lehman, Robert Leib, John Lindner, Sarah Maclay, Chaz Martinsen, Ralph Mazza, Sharon Pierce McCullough, Benjamin Nelson, Nancy Olyha, Liana Owad, Christian Parker, Alan Paulson, Eric Plump, George Radeschi, Joh Ricci, Jaci Rice, Andi Simpson, Peter Smyth, Dora Townsend, Jim Whetstone, Elizabeth Wilson, Elaine C. Following the Reception and Awards Ceremony on June 8, the celebration continues.  Join us for “Toast the Artists,” honoring ACAC Member artists and artists participating in the 20th Annual Juried Art Exhibition. This special ticketed event is $75 per person and will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. across campus in the award-winning Atrium Dining Center, corner of College Ave. and Lincoln St. The event features The Buzz Jones Quartet, heavy hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, wine, and a Silent Auction featuring Adams County Arts Council Member Artists’ works.
