Overflow Holiday Trash

The Town of Sterling Department of Public Works is pleased to announce it will be sponsoring a program to handle overflow trash and recycling for the weeks following the Christmas Holiday. Residents may bring their overflow bagged household trash to the DPW, 171 Worcester Road, on Tuesday December 27, Wednesday December 28, and Thursday December 29 to dispose of in a provided dumpster. The trash MUST be bagged, no loose trash or bulk items will be allowed. The dumpster will be located behind the gate on the left side of the building. Residents may drive through the gate, dispose of their bags, and exit. The dumpster will be available from 7:30am until 3:30pm on those three days only and will be under both DPW supervision and 24 hour video surveillance. There will be no charge for this service. Excess cardboard for “A” week from December 26th through December 30th and “B” week from January 2 nd through January 6th may be left at the curb, broken down and neatly stacked between the trash and recycling containers. The cardboard shall be broken down in such a way that it can fit in the empty recycle bin, so the driver can re-load the bin and dump it in the truck. PLEASE NOTE DUE TO CHRISTMAS DAY AND NEW YEARS DAY BEING ON A SUNDAY, THERE IS NO DELAY IN TRASH SERVICE SURROUNDING THOSE HOLIDAYS. If you have any questions please contact the DPW at 978-422-6767.
