From: Aurora GreenFestAurora Greenlights, in affiliation with The Conservation Foundation, will host the eleventh annual Aurora Greenfest on Saturday, May 13.
The annual event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the Prisco Community Center at 150 W. Illinois Ave. and outside at McCullough Park.
Solar panel installers, green car owners, local environmental groups, and several special attractions will be on hand. More than 100 activities and exhibitors will be part of this year's festival.
“Visiting with bees, bats, baby chicks, and snakes will help promote our connection with nature and the importance of habitat and species preservation,” said Mavis Bates, festival founder and organizer.
Speaker presentations will be on topics such as solar, recycling, urban planting, the Fox River, Climate Action Plan, preservation, and Citizens Utility Board (CUB). An EV car show will feature electric vehicles on the lawn.
Local bands will perform outdoors including The Heavy Lifting Duo, Sunflower Headlights, and The Fishin Buddies. Fermilab’s Mr. Freeze will be at the music stage at noon for a live science show.
A handful of food trucks will be parked outdoors including Strawberries BBQ, Chills Italian Ice, Dapper Brews, Kissed by Fire, Go Doggy Run, and Juquilita Tacos.
Dozens of local artisans along with local farmers will have booths inside and outside. Local artist Gin Ingram will offer face painting indoors.
