This winter season, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park will be hosting a "Sapling Story Time" program! Once a month, on select Saturdays from October 2024-April 2025, please join us for a story, followed by a guided activity related to the program's theme. Everyone is welcome at Sapling Story Time, but this program was designed especially for kids ages 8 and under. Storybooks and activities are chosen with this age group in mind. Please note that an adult companion must accompany children for the duration of the program. The format of the program will be as follows:

-10:00am-10:30am: Introductions and story.
-10:30am-11:00am: Nature-themed activity.

January Theme: Animal Detectives

From tracks in the snow, to scat (the scientific name for animal poop!), animals leave behind lots of clues while frolicking through the forest. But how can we tell which animal left behind these clues? To solve this mystery, we’ll need special help from animal detectives! Please join us for Sapling Story Time, where we will read Someone Walks By by Polly Carlson-Voiles. Following the story, we will do an activity to learn how to identify tracks and scat of common Vermont animals. Then we will go on a short snowshoe walk (snowshoes will be provided) to search for animal clues and use our detective skills to figure out which animal left them behind!
