Sanny Alves, a Brazilian singers' singer, a favorite of the country's greatest musicians, and an acclaimed stage actress, will make a rare New York appearance at Pangea. A fixture in Rio’s most sophisticated boîtes, notably Beco das Garrafas, a birthplace of the bossa nova, Sanny has performed with a Who's-Who of Brazilian greats, including Emílio Santiago, Leny Andrade, Ney Lopes, Mauricio Einhorn, Gilson Peranzzetta, Joyce, and her father, Luiz Alves, one of Brazil's preeminent bassists. Arthur Verocai, the celebrated veteran arranger, chose Sanny to sing on eight tracks of one of his greatest albums, Saudade Demais (2002).
