Poetry The Art of Words (PTAOW) is a poetry reading series featuring both local and regional poets, meeting monthly between September and June. In addition to the scheduled readers below, there will be an open mic for those who want to read a poem. Look for the signup sheet when you arrive. Open and free to the public. Donations greatly appreciated!

Doors open at at 1:15. Features begin at 1:30, followed by intermission for books sales and signings, and closing with an open mic. The event is always free (though a suggested donation of $5 is always appreciated), open to the public, and handicapped accessible.

Heather Treseler
Heather Treseler is the author of Auguries & Divinations (2024), which received the May Sarton Prize, and Parturition (2020), which received the international chapbook prize from the Munster Literature Centre in Cork, Ireland. Her poems have won the W. B. Yeats Prize and the Editors’ Prize from the Missouri Review; they appear in The Irish Times, Kenyon Review, Harvard Review, The Iowa Review, Narrative, and The American Scholar. Her essays appear in Boston Review, LARB, and eight books about poetry. She is professor of English at Worcester State University and a resident scholar at the Brandeis Women’s Studies Research Center.

Sarah Giragosian
Sarah Giragosian, PhD (she/ her/hers) is a Full-Time Lecturer in Writing and Critical Inquiry and Affiliated Faculty Member in English University at Albany, SUNY.

Her poetry collections include Queer Fish (winner of the American Poetry Journal Book Prize, 2017) and The Death Spiral (Black Lawrence Press, 2020) and co-editor (with Virginia Konchan) of Marbles on the Floor: How to Assemble a Book of Poems (University of Akron Press, 2023).
