Visual installation comes to life with electric cello, dance, puppetry, and storytelling in a 60-minute performance sharing the true story of a woman who built a 86-foot long, three-story tall ark in the city of Newark. Join us for the exquisite journey of inventive biographic portraiture as artist Sebastienne Mundheim of White Box Theatre deftly crafts a story exploring history, identity, and the "courage to be." This poetic tale takes us from Japan, to Arizona, to Newark, with paper sculpture, projections, soulful music and follows the life of a self-taught engineer and artist who built an unlikely dream.
This performance was commissioned and incubated at ArtYard (2023), and has since been performed to sold-out audiences at Kohler Arts Center (2023), Delaware Contemporary Arts Center (2024), and Theatre Exile (2024).
This is an intimate experience with limited seating. In addition to traditional seating, we offer a small number of floor mats for an up-close opportunity for the limber!
