The goal of the Newport Irish Heritage Month calendar is to include "All things Irish" that will be occurring in the Newport, Rhode Island area throughout March. This includes events sponsored by organizations that promote Irish heritage, culture, and history, including the Museum of Newport Irish History, the sponsor of this calendar, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. A complete list of participating organizations and businesses may be found at the end of this document.

PARADE DAY 2025
Mass in Honor of St. Patrick and St. Brigid, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Broadway and Mann Ave., Newport (near City Hall), 9:00 a.m. Offered in memory of the deceased members of the Newport Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernian and deceased members of the former Newport Irish Heritage Association. Officiant: Rev. Francis A. O’Loughlin, Pastor Emeritus of Jesus Saviour Church, Chaplain of the Newport Ancient Order of Hibernians.
69th Annual Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade:
Steps off from Newport City Hall, Broadway promptly at 11:00 a.m. and finishes at Saint Augustin’s Church on Carroll Avenue in the Fifth Ward. This year’s parade is dedicated to the memory of John "Jack" Kane. Grand Marshal is Michael J. Henlyshyn. Approximate run time is 2 hours. Rain or shine. Visit newportirish.com for more information.

17th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Family Celebration: Martin Recreation Center "The Hut," 35 Golden Hill Street, behind Newport Library., 1-4 p.m. FREE admission. This alcohol-free, family-friendly event will feature entertainment including bagpipers, face painters, a balloon twister artist, a magician, Trevor "The Games Man," and more. There will also be giveaways, including a $100 cash door prize and a "How Green Am I" contest with cash prizes ($150, $100, $50). Post-Parade Celebration hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Hibernian Hall, 2 Wellington Ave. Newport. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. Music by DJ Murph throughout the day and Irish music by The McMurphy’s from 2-6:00 p.m. Kitchen open Noon-6:00 p.m. (cash bar). St. Patrick’s Parade Day Family-Friendly Show with Greg Asadoorian and Danielle Boucher, 2:00-5:00 p.m. Top of Pelham, 1 Pelham Street, Newport (across from Bowen's Wharf on Thames St.). Museum of Newport Irish History Interpretive Center: 648 Thames St., Newport, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Learn about Irish immigration to the Newport area and of the contributions to the community by individuals of Irish descent from the 1600s to the present through various exhibits, including photographs, artifacts and more.
