David Moore’s has focused his studio practice over the last 30 years on creating stunning paintings composed of intense mark marking and nuanced surfaces. David Moore's Flight paintings are influenced by his deep connection to nature and his search for the abstract synthesis of these encounters. The studies for these paintings were created in New Hampshire, New Mexico, Arizona, Ireland, and Iceland, forming the basis for these explorations. Fleeting moments of light, the movement of insects, birds, and water, evolve into gestural and calligraphic repetition. Lyrical ribbons of lines and color manifest in unpredictable twists and turns while remaining intricately balanced and rhythmically determined.

Another major influence on Moore's painting practice is music and the structure of sound itself. The gestural quality of his work can also be understood as a painterly visualization of rhythm and sound. Whether exploring a densely connected web of lines or an open and pure gesture, Moore invites his viewer to "hear" the forces underlying his paintings.

He earned his MFA degree in painting at Bard College, NY, where he studied painting, photography, video, and music. He has been an artist in residence at the MacDowell Colony NH, Yaddo NY, Blue Mountain Center NY, Edward F.Albee Foundation NY, and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ireland. He received prestigious awards from the Massachusett Cultural Council:Fellowship in Painting, and the Pollock Krasner Award.
