Step Inside the Abandoned Spaces of a Legendary Air Station
Interiors of MCAS El Toro is on view June 9–August 1 at Irvine City Hall

In 2003, six photographers embarked on a mission to document the transformation of Marine Corps Air Station El Toro into what is now the Great Park. Known as The Legacy Project, this team captured over 400,000 images—offering a rare glimpse into the base’s abandoned interior spaces.

Interiors of MCAS El Toro presents a curated selection of these powerful photographs, showcasing the artistry and history preserved by Jerry Burchfield, Mark Chamberlain, Jacques Garnier, Rob Johnson, Douglas McCulloh, and Clayton Spada. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore a pivotal chapter of our region’s past through the eyes of these remarkable artists.

Exhibition Dates: June 9 – August 1
