West Virginia Archives and History is currently displaying a new exhibit titled "A Flurry of Opportunities," which explores the rich history of U.S. naturalization records and the stories of immigrants who have shaped the nation. The exhibit is in the Archives and History Library at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex, in Charleston. This immersive exhibit, which opened Dec. 18, 2024, will run through March 17, 2025, and is free and open to the public.

The exhibit provides a unique and personal glimpse into the lives of immigrants by showcasing a selection of naturalization records from the 19th and 20th centuries. These documents, which mark the formal process of becoming a U.S. citizen, reveal not only the procedural aspects of immigration but also the stories of individuals seeking new lives and opportunities in America.

"A Flurry of Opportunities" takes visitors on a journey through time, from the first waves of European immigration to the diverse influx of peoples from around the world. Through the lens of naturalization records, the exhibit explores the significance of citizenship and belonging in a constantly evolving society.
