A groundbreaking one-day symposium, “Dementia Beyond Drugs & Disease,” will be held Thursday, March 6 in Oxnard. Healthcare professionals, administrators, and family caregivers will hear the latest in person-centered, non-pharmacological, more compassionate, effective and dignified care for those living with dementia. Speaking at the symposium are Dr. G. Allen Power, a renowned author and geriatrician and Tony Chicotel, a legal advocate for elder rights. The symposium will be held at the Staybridge Suites Oxnard-River Ridge (2102 West Vineyard Ave. Oxnard) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $35 per person. The symposium is presented by Long Term Care Services of Ventura County, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assure high quality of life and care for the elderly and disabled in long-term care facilities.
