Mozart, Beethoven, and a World-Class Violinist Highlight TahoePhil's 2025 Classics+ Series

Over 40 musicians will bring classical masterpieces to life this spring as the Tahoe Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus presents its Classics+ concert series, with performances in Incline Village, Reno, and Carson City.

The concert opens with the first movement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, setting the stage with its noble and spirited character.  Written around 1730, the opening movement begins with majestic, full-bodied chords that grab your attention, followed by lively, dancing sections that sparkle with joy. The second movement "Air on a G String" is a famous piece you have heard many times but may not know it!

Next up is, Beethoven's "Happiest " Symphony's - Symphony No. 1 in C major, Op. 21.  From a mischievous start that plays with your expectations, to lively dances and joyful melodies, this symphony is full of charm and humor. You’ll hear Beethoven’s personality from the start: bold, playful, and bursting with invention.

Returning by popular demand, acclaimed violinist Kevin Matheson joins the orchestra for a commanding performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major—a towering work known for its lyrical beauty, emotional depth, and the exuberant, gypsy-inspired finale.

Maestro James Rawie leads the ensemble in celebration of his 20th summer concert series, continuing a legacy begun during his years conducting TOCCATA. Many familiar faces from those beloved performances return for this festive anniversary season.

Let the music of the masters move you this spring with TahoePhil’s unforgettable Classics+ series.
