Artists from the metro area are participating in the North End Gallery's 15th annual “Invitational” show during the month of February.

2025 marks the beginning of the second quarter of this century and provides the opportunity to reflect on changes artists have embraced, explored and incorporated into their artwork. While art is ever changing by artists or the medium they choose, some of the materials and supplies used can be different. Some materials are revised and use improved ingredients, some are enhanced by technology and manufacturing processes or others have been discontinued. These changes result in artists often needing to create alternatives in producing the work with which we are familiar. New technologies have offered different methods for some artists to explore and learn new techniques to express their ideas and inspirations, while other traditional artists continue to hone and pursue styles and techniques that have not really changed over the years.

Whether incorporating new materials or keeping old traditions alive, artists continue to express their diversity and vision. Some artists voice their world views, and others strive to impress the viewer with their independent styles and artistic personality, creating a range from quiet to vibrant or reflective to challenging. The February event showcases new work by invited artists not to be missed. Works on paper, paint, wood, metals, linocut, scratchboard, clay, fiber, mixed media, sculpture and glass along with jewelry and textiles are all included.

The gallery opens the show on Tuesday, February 4th, with the reception and opportunity to meet the guest artists on Friday February 7th from 5pm to 8pm. The show runs through Sunday March 2nd. Join us!
